Gathercare Healthcare Services Inc. ("Gathercare", "we", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of families, care recipients, caregivers, and website visitors. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.

1. Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly, including:

• Name, email, phone, city and province when you request care or apply as a caregiver.
• Health-related context you choose to share about a care recipient (condition, care needs, schedule).
• Employment history, references, and credential documents from prospective caregivers.
• Communications with our care advisors, and appointment details from consultation bookings.

2. How we use your information

• To match families with an appropriate caregiver.
• To verify credentials, complete background checks, and comply with provincial healthcare regulations.
• To communicate with you about scheduled care, invoices, and service updates.
• To improve our services and, where you have consented, to send occasional educational content.

3. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the caregivers assigned to you, our vetted background-check partners, and where required by law. All contractors are bound by confidentiality obligations.

4. Security

Personal and health information is stored on encrypted Canadian servers. Access is restricted to trained staff on a need-to-know basis. Caregiver resumes and sensitive documents are held in a private, encrypted bucket with role-based access controls.

5. Retention

We retain client records for the period required by provincial healthcare and tax law (typically 7–10 years after the end of service). Unsuccessful caregiver applications are deleted after 24 months unless you ask us to keep them on file.

6. Your rights

You may request access to your personal information, request corrections, or withdraw consent at any time by emailing privacy@gathercare.ca. You may also file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
