Dementia Support

Specialized, patient care built around the person — not the diagnosis.

Dementia Support

A dementia diagnosis reshapes daily life for everyone in the household. Our dementia specialists are trained in evidence-based approaches — validation therapy, redirection, sensory engagement — and bring a calm, unhurried presence into the home. We adapt as the condition changes, so families never feel like they're facing it alone.

Trained specialists, continually learning

Every dementia caregiver at Gathercare completes an accredited 60-hour foundation course and ongoing quarterly training. We follow the Alzheimer Society of Canada's person-centred care framework and update our practice as the research evolves.

Structure without rigidity

Predictable routines reduce agitation and improve sleep. We work with families to build gentle daily rhythms — morning walks, meaningful activities tied to the person's history, quiet evenings — and adjust when needed. We document what works so every shift feels familiar.

Support for the whole family

Caregiver burnout is real. Our team provides scheduled respite so spouses and adult children can rest, work, or simply step outside. We also share observations and gentle guidance to help families navigate difficult moments with confidence.
