Care that feels like family.
Gathercare began with a simple idea: every Canadian deserves to age with dignity, surrounded by familiar faces and steady support. Since 2015, we have grown into one of the nation's largest home care networks — without ever losing the warmth of a small-town care team.

From one family's kitchen table to coast-to-coast care.
In 2015, a registered nurse in Toronto noticed something troubling: families were piecing together care from agencies that treated shifts like transactions. She started Gathercare with three caregivers and a notebook of names. The first office was a small room above a pharmacy. The first phone was her own. But the promise was clear from the beginning — every person who opened their door to a Gathercare caregiver would be treated like a member of the family.
Word spread. A son in Vancouver asked if we could help his father after surgery. A daughter in Halifax needed overnight support so she could finally sleep through the night. Families in Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Moncton began calling with the same request: could we send someone who would not just show up, but truly care? By listening first and scheduling second, we built a network that now spans every province — always local, always personal.
Today, Gathercare supports thousands of families across Canada. We have regional managers in every major province, a national coordination desk that never closes, and a growing community of caregivers who chose this work not because it is easy, but because it matters. Yet the heart of Gathercare remains the same: a kitchen table, a conversation, and a commitment to show up with kindness.
We exist to make home care human again.
Healthcare is changing. Hospital stays are shorter, families are busier, and the demand for compassionate home support has never been greater. Our mission is to meet that demand with dignity, consistency, and respect — one relationship at a time.
Dignity in every home
We believe that aging, recovering, or living with a disability should never mean losing autonomy. Our care plans are built around the person, not the diagnosis.
Workforce worth investing in
Caregivers are the backbone of our healthcare system. We provide fair wages, ongoing training, and real career pathways because great care starts with supported caregivers.
Families as partners
No one knows a loved one better than their family. We keep families informed, involved, and confident that their person is in good hands.
A decade of showing up.
The first kitchen-table conversation
Gathercare opens in Toronto with three caregivers and a single promise: to treat every client like family.
Crossing provincial lines
Families in Vancouver, Calgary, and Halifax begin asking for care. We expand our licensing and train regional managers to keep quality local.
Specialized care programs
We launch dementia care, post-surgical recovery, and palliative support programs led by registered nurses and experienced caregivers.
A national network takes shape
A 24-hour coordination desk is established. Caregivers can now find support, families can reach a real person any time, and care never stops.
One of Canada's largest home care providers
Gathercare now supports thousands of families in every province, with one of the largest screened caregiver networks in the country.
Looking ahead
We continue to grow, advocate for better caregiver wages, and invest in technology that keeps care personal — never automated.
More than a visit.
The moments that stay with us are rarely the big ones. They are the quiet, repeated ones.
Margaret's garden walks
"After my hip replacement, Gathercare matched me with Aisha. She doesn't just help me walk — she remembers which flowers I planted and when they bloom. We talk about the garden like old neighbours. I don't feel like a client; I feel like a friend."
Margaret L., Ottawa, ON
The Chen family's mornings
"Mornings used to feel impossible. My mother would resist help, and my father would try to do everything himself. Now Mrs. Chen looks forward to breakfast because her caregiver, Daniel, arrives with patience, a sense of humour, and the patience of a saint."
David Chen, Calgary, AB
A caregiver's second family
"I've been with Gathercare for five years. The training is excellent, but the reason I stay is the families. Mr. Peterson asks about my daughter. Mrs. Okafor saves me a slice of plantain. They greet me like one of their own."
Rebecca N., Halifax, NS
Built on steady principles.
Listen first
Every plan begins with understanding the rhythms of a home, not a checklist. We ask about routines, preferences, fears, and small joys before we ever schedule a shift.
Match carefully
We pair caregivers and clients by personality, skill, language, and schedule — not just availability. The right match can turn a difficult season into a peaceful one.
Stay consistent
Familiar faces matter. We prioritize the same caregiver returning, visit after visit, so trust has time to grow and care becomes second nature.
Support always
Our national coordination desk and local managers are available around the clock. If a plan changes at midnight, we answer. If a caregiver needs backup, we send it.
A network you can count on.
